It’s a long story, but Len is now the proud owner of a 1967 BSA Lightning 650 (do you like how the 650 is done up in address numbers, very retro chic). The engine seems to be in good shape, but everything else will need to be replaced, repaired, or re-chromed. I’d like to think this will be a winter project, but I’m not that gullible. If you would like to see a (shiny and restored) version of this bike in action (and Leno doesn’t make you want to hurl yourself out a window), check out this video. And before you ask, yes, I approve wholeheartedly of this purchase. I love good design and the BSA is beautiful.

I traditionally plant our garden around Memorial Day — officially the last frost day in Michigan in May 15, realistically it can be more like May 21, so Memorial Day is definitely safe. It’s always thrilling when the first seeds start coming up.
