Day 149. Valid Coins Only.

Someone from the parking meter company saw me taking this and wondering if there was something wrong with the meter. I told her I just liked the way it looked with the snow on it, which she found funny.

Day 148. Poppy.

Last night, I was trying to take some pictures of our bookcase, which were coming out terribly (very low light) and had moved this dried pod into the arrangement. Luckily it occurred to me that I could just take a picture (or 10) of it. I can’t decide if the background provides some nice texture, or is way too busy.

Day 147. Snowballs.

A few days ago, I checked the itinerary for one of our faculty members who spends the winter in Florida. He had suggested in the e-mail that he might like some snowballs. The snow was so nice and packable last night when I got home, I decided to do just that. So Al got some snowballs today.

Day 146. Dear Winter.

This has been on the blackboard in our Data Archive since last winter.

Day 145. Snow Filled Benches.

The batteries for my camera died yesterday, so two pictures for today. I suppose I could call this “February in Michigan”. I’m happier with this view than the last one, except for the snow.

Day 144. Polaroid Mosaic.

I can’t help but think there is a place for the Polaroid and I rather like how these turned out. I took them with the intention of doing a mosaic, but the arrangement is rather constrained by the size of our scanner at work.

Day 143. Cross.

I’ve been wanting to take this picture for a few months and today the sky was finally blue enough to provide the contrast I wanted. The cross is on a Catholic Church close to where I work; I really like the contrast between the white and blue, but the focus isn’t quite as crisp as I would like.

Day 142. Flag.

This is the view from the steps of the graduate library. It’s based on a couple of challenges (maybe from Digital Photography School?): something patriotic and centering the subject (rather than framing based on the Rule of Thirds). I rather like the way this turned out.

And yes. Yesterday’s photo was taken yesterday and today’s was taken today and I’m going back to the library now.

These are stairs between the half floors at the graduate library.
