Better view of Day Eight.
This is Me
This is my Minolta Hi-Matic. It has a bad habit of running out of battery power, just like me.

This one doesn’t look very good in color, but desaturated and with a touch of sepia it looks a little better.
Not so much a lame idea as badly executed. We occasionally find discarded nests in the yard, I pulled this one off the shelf and discovered I had stuck a broken robin’s egg in it. Maybe I’ll try this one again with better light.
When we were kids, our dad went through a sewing phase. I got a couple of blouses and a dress out it, and I think all of us got a quilt. I still have mine (I’m very sentimental that way), because it wasn’t quilted or tied it has fallen apart a few times. This time I added a second border so it will fit on our bed, and I’m tying it so maybe it will stay together for a few more years.
Strange as it seems, I find taking pictures of fall colors really hard. Either the pictures are so cliche they are uninteresting, or they are just uninteresting. So I’m kind of surprised this one works for me. It was a little windy yesterday evening, but I think the light was just bright enough that I could get a fast shutter speed. The aperture was wide open (f/2.7), thus a very narrow field of focus. It was a happy mistake that I got the most interesting part in focus, it could just as easily been the tip of the leaf, which wouldn’t have been as pretty.
There were two other pictures in the running for day three (this one and this one). I went with the birch because I like the perspective.
