Argus Super Seventy Five

My honey got me an Argus Super Seventy Five for Christmas. After mucking up the first roll of film (120 film needs to be re-rolled onto 620 spools and I screwed the first roll up), the second roll came out pretty nicely. These were taken on Kodak TMax ISO 400 and developed in Ilfosol 3 for 6 minutes. Nice grain, reasonably sharp (which I wasn’t expecting), decent camera. And way cute.

Cemetery.

There is a cemetery a few miles down the road from us with a mix of very new and very old graves. On the on hand, many old stones are broken, leaning against each other, or fallen on the ground, but on the other hand, someone goes around and puts flags on the graves of veterans, no matter how old they are. Some of the old sites are still maintained with plantings and decorations, probably because Grass Lake is a community with some old families.

These were all taken with the Mamiya, with Kodak TMax 400 and 100 ISO. I didn’t write down the settings, but generally pretty long shutter times. All developed in Adonal (Rondinal) at a 50:1 dilution, the 400 ISO for 10 minutes and the 100 ISO for 12 minutes. I had to do a bunch of research to find a development time for the 100 ISO, since the time I had didn’t seem right (3.75 minutes seems a bit short). Now that I have the basics of developing down, I’m starting to think a bit more about the chemistry. It turns out, photography has a bunch of science behind it as well as art. Who knew (besides, you know, everyone)?

Sorry it’s been so long — I’ve been having laziness issues (affecting my ability to develop film) and computer issues (affecting my ability to scan and post from home). Not all entirely fixed, but I did manage to get one 35mm roll scanned. I need to scan another, but the computer wasn’t cooperating.

New Look!

Trying a new look, I’m hoping this will solve some of the loading issues some folks were having, but I’m not sure that it will. I tend to use very big files.

Benches.

Another one from my session a couple of weeks ago. I’ll post a couple more this week, but there weren’t many in the color set that I liked very much, as much due to focusing issues as anything. I really love the colors, though. This is from the Mamiya again. I took some 35mm but haven’t developed them yet.

Eyes.

Another one from my session this weekend (also taken on the Mamiya, with Kodak TMax 400, I believe this was f/8, 1/250). Here is a picture of the whole apparatus (isn’t it a hoot?) I’m getting the color roll back tonight, so there will be a few more next week.

Swings.

I took the Mamiya out to the playground this weekend. The weather was perfect for black and white. If I read my notes correctly this was taken at f/8, 1/500ths (I wrote the exposures down by number, but I only have a vague sense of what order I actually took the pictures in since the negatives are at home).
